Once upon a time (1)
Implementing an idea it presented for the first time in 2012, the HELLENIC PROJECT has set out to develop a repertoire which draws on Greek tradition for its inspiration and which seeks to educate as well as entertain. This year, two composer have undertaken to create a pair of musical fairy tales for narrator and symphony orchestra which will bring two traditional Greek folk tales to life. The works are to be performed by the Athens State Orchestra under the baton of a rising star, George Balatsinos.

Emblematic music, all of them started glowing together with great interpretation and famous cinematographic scenes and later have been following an autonomous 'solo' career: This is the programme chosen by five great musicians for their concert 'One melody... one thousand pictures!'.

Love, passion, sacrifice, disappointment, enthusiasm and the ecstasy that follows, have always been at the epicenter of the seventh Art. The Athens State Orchestra, under Vladimiros Simeonidis's baguette, reminds us sensual, familiar melodies from beloved films that sealed their time -and not only.

Undoubtably, many of the melodies that have been composed for operas and ballets are irresistably charming. Let's discover them once more, through their transcriptions for wood quintet, as they're interepreted by five eminent musicians of the Athens State Orchestra.
We and the world V
The Athens State Orchestra welcomes Stathis Karapanos, the young flutist, winner of the competition "Urs Ruttimann", who interprets the splendid Concerto of the Italian composer Saverio Mercadante. Charles Olivieri-Munroe, the famous canadian conductor, will lead the orchestra to the interpretation of a mystic piece composed by Nezeritis and of Dvorac's very popular seventh symphony.

The Merry Widow
The Athens Concert Hall, in collaboration with the Athens State Orchestra present in the Athenian audience Franz Lehar's famous and beloved operette 'The Merry Widow', under the baguette of the experienced Maestro, Miltos Logiadis. Melodies and waltzes, humor, unpredictable events, offer a special mood in the spirit of Christmas.
Treasures known and unknown I
Every new contact with pieces we know and love is refreshing, but meeting pieces less familiar is equally exiting. The Athens State Orchestra tries to offer this double pleasure to its audience, under the baguette of Stefanos Tsialis, interpreting Beethoven's Overture to 'King Stephen' (not without a humoristic connotation...) and Symphony No. 9, with the collaboration of famous lyric artists.
