Musical promenades at the Museums - Death and the Maiden

The Quintarco string ensemble has programmed a concert that will surely delight lovers of the classical chamber music repertoire. Our Orchestra's distinguished musicians chose one of the most exciting string quartets of all time, in a Mahler's transcription for string quintets, for the evening's centrepiece, the work known as "Death and the maiden" after the Schubert lied whose melody forms the basis of its slow movement; Mahler's transcription of Death and the maiden will  be presented for the first time in Greece in this concert.

1 hour prior to the concert, at 19:00, a free guided tour will be offered to auditors.

War and Peace III

The internationally acclaimed pianist Giorgos-Emmanuel Lazaridis performs Mozart's dramatic Concerto in C minor. After the success of his appearance last season, Frank Beermann returns to the podium to conduct Shostakovich's Leningrad Symphony, a work inextricably bound up with the harsh realities of siege of the Soviet city during World War Two. The Symphony employs a disarming musical realism to convey the horrors of war, but also to send out a clear message of peace, freedom and dignity.

Opera Gala with Liudmyla Monastyrska and Dimitris Platanias

A gala in celebration of Verdi and Verismo! Liudmyla Monastyrska has ‘deep knowledge of Verdi’s artistic development,’ and has a formidable spinto voice, with an incredibly rich timbre, according to international press. A favourite Rigoletto on the international stage, Dimitris Platanias performs equally often Macbeth, Nabucco, and Tonio in major opera houses. A joint appearance by them in a rich and varied programme promises an unforgettable opera experience.

The Age of maturity

The great Romantic works have a way of remaining ever-relevant as honest and heart-felt manifestations of Man's deepest emotions and visions. It will therefore be an emotional experience to revisit two magnificent symphonic works of late German Romanticism through the talent of the rising soloist Arsenis Selalmazidis and of the eminent principal of the Athens State Orchestra, Asterios Pouftis, dynamically conducted by Stefanos Tsialis.
