Musical promenades at the Museums V - Light Music
Very often, behind the term “light music”, real diamonds are hidden; it is probably an arbitrary assumption that music written (also) for entertainment purposes, lacks value and quality. Let’s discover that through the light but, at the same time, interesting musical choices of our musicians!
Works by G. Gershwin, Russian composers and representatives of 'Country Music'.
Musical promenades at the Museums IV - Woodwinds in the 20th century
As true as it is that the strings had the “lion’s share” in the chamber music of the 18th and 19th century, it is equally true that during the 20th century winds came dynamically to the foreground, since many significant composers deployed them in masterpieces of chamber music. Some of them, rarely performed in our country, will be interpreted by eminent musicians of the Athens State Orchestra’s woodwinds family.
At 19:30 a free guided tour to the Museum will be offered.
Musical promenades at the Museums III - From baroque to... rock
The distinguished hornists of our Orchestra always find a way to show off! And not only in the great symphonic works, but, as they will prove during this concert, by taking single-handedly the control of the musical action in a programme that covers a huge time spectrum, from the 17th to the 21st century.
Works by J. S. Bach,
J. Pachelbel, L. V. Beethoven, R. Wagner, T. Turner, Fr. Mercury etc.

With the Orchestra’s and the conductor Vladimiros Symeonidis’s assistance, our young friends get to know the tonic timbres and the abilities of all the instrument groups of a symphonic orchestra, but also learn that you cannot become a hero, unless you take a risk!

Leonidas Kavakos with the Athens State Orchestra - concert in Patras
The establishment of a very wide and long-lasting cooperation and Leonidas Kavakos’s return on the podium of the Athens State Orchestra for four concerts during the current artistic period, three of which will actually take place outside Athens, couldn’t be but a quite significant artistic event. Our recent experience from the collaboration of the Orchestra with the internationally glowing Greek musician already proved that Kavakos, also as conductor, achieves this mysterious, unutterable, always interactive and honest communication with the audience as well as among the musicians and with High Art. Kavakos’s unselfish offer, partially granted for the needs of the Athens State Orchestra in purchase of instruments and partially for charity causes, turns him furthermore, during hard times, in one of the Orchestra’s most precious allies.
