Imagination discipline - Saint-Saëns Year
In his first collaboration with the Athens State Orchestra, the Belarusian conductor Vyacheslav Volich, chief conductor of the Odessa National Opera, conducts Camille Saint-Saëns’ Third Symphony, getting underway a wide-ranging tribute to the great French composer in the centenary of his death. The concert begins with a new symphonic work by the prominent composer Dimitrios Skyllas which was inspired by the Dance of Zalongo, and continues with the great piano virtuoso Kyprianos Katsaris performing two dazzling, and spectacularly difficult, works by Franz Liszt.

2022 05 09 SONQUISERA the dreamland
Sonquisera is a dreamland, created with the material of music by great composers. Prokoviev's Sonata, Mozart's Quinteto and Tchaikovsky's Serenata, create the ideal utopian place, where people from different provenance meet together and discuss whether as unisono soli in a melody, whether as five different melodies in the quinteto, whether, at last, in the serenata, as instrument families who, even though different, they serve, all together, the unutterable print of music: unification, common breathe and common vision.
2022 05 02 In F major
One concert, one key. Three Beethoven quartets from three different periods in his career reveal the more "personal" aspects of the great German classical composer and put us in touch with his immortal spirit, as this was captured in his quartets.
2021 10 28 Concert for the anniversary of 200 years since the Greek Revolution
We honour the anniversary of the National Day on 28 October, presenting the programme we had prepared for the concert on 25 March for the great anniversary of 200 years after the beginning of the Revolution for Freedom. A concert that, unfortunately, has been postponed due to a Covid-19 affection. The programme starts with the Dance of `21, an order of the Athens State Orchestra to the internationally acknowledged Greek composer and conductor Konstantia Gourzi. Ector Berlioz’s Heroic Scene follows, depicting Europe’s admiration towards the heroic struggle of Greek people. The concert peaks with the highly symbolic Symphony No. 1 in C major, known as Symphony of Valiance, composed by the father of the National Music School, Manolis Kalomoiris. The strong and heroic symphony, heritage of the composer to the Athens State Orchestra, as he noted, expresses the need to «depict with music the emotion I felt witnessing all expressions of the Greek Valiance : facing joy, dance, love, war, death». Tasos Apostolou and Petros Magoulas participate as soloists while Stefanos Tsialis is the conductor of the programme.
