A statement from the Artistic Director on the death of Mikis Theodorakis

Dearest Mikis, I know you haven't gone.

People with an embrace as broad as yours never really leave us.

But because the whole of Greece and all the world is bidding you farewell, and because I happen to represent the Athens State Orchestra at this moment in time, I would like to add my gratitude to all our musicians’ thanks to you, the legend who served our Orchestra as a musician, conductor and composer, adding lustre to its career and warming all our hearts in the process.

We will be forever inspired by the score of your life, so full of notes and vision, deeds and boundless love for Greece.
