At the threshold of the 20th century I
The Athens State Orchestra initiates an ambitious dedication to the colossal Symphonies of Gustav Mahler, which will be extended to the next three years. A particularly appreciated by the Greek audience conductor, Juraj Valcuh, premieres the dedication with the Symphony no. 9. It is worth mentioning that Juraj Valcuha offers his services without personal profit, in a will to support the Orchestra. We thank the Maestro.

Hollywood's German sound
What we recognize as 'Hollywood's sound' owes a lot to European composers who offered their inspiration to the 'Mecca of the Cinematography', creating immortal melodies for immortal movies. The Athens State Orchestra 'wears her best suite' and reminds us of some of those, guided by Europe's most important Maestro for music for the cinematography.
Greek Roots
It is with great pride that the Athens State Orchestra represents our Nation to the very important international Ghent Festival of Flanders. As an ambassador of the Greek musical creation, it interprets emblematic works by Nikos Skalkottas and Mikis Theodorakis under Stefanos Tsialis's baguette. The concert's programme is completed by popular pieces of the international repertoire; among them, George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, where the multi-awarded Bulgarian pianist Evgeni Bozhanov will be the soloist.
150th anniversary of the National Archeological Museum
In our return from Ghent, Belgium and as a goodbye to summer, the Athens State Orchestra invites his "own" Athenian audience in the National Archeological Museum, to offer the chance to listen to the biggest part of the programme it will have just interpreted in the historical city of Ghent. And this will occur to honor a very special moment in the cultural history of our country, the 150th anniversary from the funding of the first Museum of Greece.
