Performed in many forms -as an oratorio, a symphonic work, a quartet, or a quintet with bass- Haydn’s prayer The Seven Last Words of Christ on the Cross moves us with the power of hope and brings us closer to the dramatic Crucifixion and the impending Resurrection of the Savior and of humanity. The words are read before each Sonata.
