]]> Is the orchestra on stage, or is it not? Is the audience in the hall, or maybe not? You’re never quite sure where you are, what’s happening, or what might happen next. Only the spectator decides. This is a whimsical game of imagination where the narrator-conductor, with the help of the captivating sound of the symphony orchestra, attempts to unveil the well-hidden secrets of music, one by one. However, unexpected events turn the concert upside down, and nothing seems to go right in the end. Who will get us out of this mess?

A delightful performance for audiences of all ages, blending music, theater, audience participation, and lots and lots of laughter.

]]> Is the orchestra on stage, or is it not? Is the audience in the hall, or maybe not? You’re never quite sure where you are, what’s happening, or what might happen next. Only the spectator decides. ]]> The 8th Classic Rock will present a crossover project at the Herodeion where the rock and metal sounds of Septicflesh meet the symphonic sound of the Athens State Orchestra, for the first time in Greece. The Piraeus Vocal Ensemble LIBRO CORO will complement the unique spectacle. This project has already been presented in Mexico in 2019 at the “Metropolitan Theater of Mexico City” with the Mexico Symphony Orchestra, featuring 140 musicians and a 40-member choir. It was a top-tier sold-out concert attended by more than 3500 spectators. The international career of SEPTICFLESH and the prestige of the Athens State Orchestra, combined with the unique location of the Herodeion, will certainly attract fans from other countries who will enjoy the unique spectacle. The execution and production organization of Classic Rock 8 will be undertaken, as every year, by the renowned company Robin 4 Arts.

]]> For six consecutive years the Classic Rock concerts are sold out! Over 32,000 people have so far seen the rock… otherwise! Classic Rock 7 returns to Herodion with strong guests ambassadors of the original Rock sound, a strong orchestra and the greatest rock hits.

This year’s guests are charismatic personalities !!!

DAVE EVANS, the first singer and co-founder of the legendary band AC/DC, 50 years since their formation, will perform songs such as TNT and Highway to hell as well as covers that AC/DC played on their first tour !!!

JUSTIN HAYWARD, the original unsurpassed voice of the MOODY BLUES, with unique tracks such as Nights in White Satin and Tuesday Afternoon. The Moody Blues’ unique style of music has been a constant presence on the radio throughout the years and continues to light up concert arenas worldwide.

MAGGIE REILLY, the lead voice of MIKE OLDFIELD’s band, who performed the famous tracks Moonlight shadow and To France. In addition to her favorite hits with Mike Oldfield, she will also perform the all-time famous track Everytime you touch, which launched her career in 1992, as well as other hits of her own.

And the experience takes off with the powerful symphonic sound of the Athens State Orchestra and the electric band with:

]]> Faithful to our autumnal get-together in the Garden of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre, we turn our attention to the music of the internationally beloved Italian composer, Ennio Morricone, who recently passed away. Morricone had a gift for melody, but he went beyond that, extending the expressive potential of film music like few others and giving us masterful works that are as moving in the concert hall as they are in the cinema auditorium. The concert will feature music which the composer wrote between the Sixties and 2016.

With the exclusive grant of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center

 

Visitors are advised to bring insect repellent and a mat, or a blanket for sitting on the ground.

]]> With a Journey to the New World, The Athens State Orchestra returns for the third year to the Stavros Niarchos Park’s Great Lawn.

This journey takes us through the characteristic melodies of North and South America – a music tradition that remains fascinating in its diversity.

The focus is on three iconic composers of the Americas – the Argentinean tango master Astor Piazzolla and two Americans, the classical and popular music legend George Gershwin and the trailblazer Leonard Bernstein.

Sharing the stage with The Athens State Orchestra, the accordion and bandoneon virtuoso Klaudiusz Baran and his bandoneon will be the perfect guide for this journey; the orchestra will be conducted by distinguished Greek conductor Georgios Vranos.
